Obverse description: Laureate, draped bust of George III facing right. Incuse legend on the broad raised rim reads GEORGIUS III D G REX; separating punctuation is partly worn.
Reverse description: Britannia seated facing left, holding an olive branch in her extended right hand and a trident in her left. Union-pattern shield beside her, sailing ship at left and waves below. Incuse BRITANNIA above and 1797 below on the raised rim; small SOHO below the shield.
Description and condition notes: Cartwheel-type twopence with broad raised rims. Brown surfaces show wear, numerous scratches and contact marks, scattered green spots, and pronounced rim knocks and bruising.
