Description
Mysia, Cyzicus. Pseudo-autonomous: First half of reign of Commodus (hero Kyzikos), c. AD 180-186. Æ (26.5mm, 9.57g).
Obv: KVΖΙΚΟϹ; Diademed head of hero Kyzikos (youthful), r.
Rev: ΚVΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ; Zeus seated, r., holding patera and long sceptre.
Possibly unique, seemingly unpublished in the standard references. The closest reference to this coin we can find is RPC IV.2 11226 (temp), with the reverse of seated Zeus holding eagle (instead of patera), which has only one specimen cited.
