Obverse description: Right-facing bust of Liberty with drapery, flowing hair tied with a ribbon, and a distinct curl below and behind the ear. LIBERTY above; date reads 179[8], with the final digit weak. Portions of the denticled border remain visible.
Reverse description: ONE CENT within a leafy wreath tied with a bow; UNITED STATES OF [A]MERICA around, with the first A particularly weak. Fraction 1/100 below. A prominent raised, curved line runs from the left rim through E of UNITED, the wreath, ribbon and fraction toward the lower rim, consistent with a die crack.
